Spotlight Agencies - People's Community Health Clinic and Pet Pals

The mission of People's Community Health Clinic is committed to improving the health status of the residents of the Cedar Valley, especially the medically underserved, through a quality, primary care system.

Volunteers are needed to assist in the administering and completion of patient satisfaction surveys throughout the clinic. The volunteer will approach patients in the clinic to complete a patient satisfaction survey form. In addition, volunteers are needed to read to pediatric patients in the waiting rooms and model early childhood literacy pattern roles for parents while encouraging parents/caregivers to read daily to children.

Volunteers age 16 and over are welcome!

P.E.T. P.A.L.S. volunteers will endeavor to provide opportunities for animal and human interaction in the Cedar Valley and surrounding communities by visiting with approved pets in local nursing homes, hospitals, group homes, schools, and other facilities.

Volunteers will provide animal assisted therapy/activities in area care centers and residential facilities, respite programs, etc. Humane Society puppies and kittens may be used. Personal pets may also be used after receiving a temperament evaluation.

A one year commitment is required with a three-hour training. Pets must receive a temperament evaluation. Junior volunteers under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or adult who has also gone through training.

Volunteers age 14 and over are welcome!
