Make A Difference Day is the most encompassing national day of helping others – a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. Created by USA WEEKEND Magazine, Make A Difference Day is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of every October. This year, the Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley celebrated Make A Difference Day throughout October in a variety of ways.
The VCCV recruited businesses and organizations to participate in a collection for the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Cedar Valley. Items collected included games, puzzles, art supplies and snacks.
Thank you to the businesses that participated: Advanced Systems, AECOM, Bergan Paulsen/Networking Solutions, CBE Group, Dutton Braun Staack & Hellman, Family & Children’s Council, GMAC Mortgage, INVISION Architecture, Isle Casino Hotel Waterloo, StruXture Architects, Universal Industries, Vanderloo Chiropractic, VGM Group, Veridian Credit Union, Waterloo Community Schools, and Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare.
Additionally, more than 100 students from the University of Northern Iowa volunteered to assist Black Hawk County Conservation, City of Cedar Falls, Green Iowa AmeriCorps and the Western Home Communities on Saturday, October 27. The event was sponsored in partnership between the VCCV and UNI’s Student Involvement Center.
