Weekly Volunteer Opportunity Update

  • Volunteers age 21 and over are needed for the first annual Stem & Stein: Food, Beer and Wine Fest on Saturday, July 14 from 2:00-11:00 p.m. at the new RiverLoop Amphitheatre. Volunteers are needed for a variety of jobs including: dinner and beer servers, ID check/wristbands, setup and tear down, gate security and stage help.

  • The Healthy Cedar Valley Coalition seeks “Garden Brigade” volunteers for community gardens sites throughout the Cedar Valley. Volunteer opportunities include soil preparation, planting, watering, weeding, and harvesting. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least 2 hours per month and work in a safe manner. Garden tools are provided; however, volunteers may bring their own. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Garden managers are generally present to help individuals that might be new to gardening.

  • Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity needs volunteers to work with a trained Habitat site supervisor building homes with families in need. No construction experience is necessary. Volunteer workdays are scheduled from 8:30 to 3:00 and volunteers should commit to the entire day whenever possible. Volunteer crews should be made up of 4 to 10 people. All volunteers must fill out a waiver form and turn it in on the construction site.

  • Volunteers are needed for the 6th Annual Iowa Irish Fest, Friday, August 3rd to Sunday, August 5th at Lincoln Park in downtown Waterloo. Volunteer shifts include gate admission, selling of food/beer tickets, assisting in our family area and help with our 2nd annual 5K race Saturday morning. Volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
