Weekly Volunteer Opportunity Updates

·         Hawkeye Community College needs volunteers to assist with a career fair on April 1 by helping businesses set up booths, locate needed materials, hang signage, registration, help students find buildings and booths of interest, and provide hospitality assistance. Shifts: 7:00-10:00 a.m.; 9:00-12:00; 11:30-2:30; 3:00-6:00 p.m. Volunteers age 18 and over are welcome.

·         Volunteers are needed to assist with activities to help Brownie Girl Scouts earn their badges at the Grout Museum District on April 2 from 9 a.m. until noon. Volunteers age 16 and over are welcome.

·         Exceptional Persons, Inc. needs volunteers to help the weekend of April 9 and 10 in downtown Waterloo at the Ramada for the special event called “Up With Families.” The weekend is a retreat for families who have a child or children with a disability to get away together as a family and have a fun and relaxing time. Opportunities exist Friday through Sunday with various shifts. Volunteers age 16 and over are welcome.

·         Waterloo Leisure Services needs volunteers to coach a baseball or softball team this summer by helping kids learn the basic fundamentals through team practices and league play with a heavy emphasis placed on sportsmanship. Days and times to be determined. Tryouts are on April 15. Practices typically begin in May. Volunteers should have played baseball or softball & enjoy working with kids. Volunteers age 16 and over are welcome.
