Weekly Volunteer Opportunity Updates

·         Exceptional Persons, Inc. needs volunteers to help the weekend of April 9 and 10 in downtown Waterloo at the Ramada for the special event called “Up With Families.” The weekend is a retreat for families who have a child or children with a disability to get away together as a family and have a fun and relaxing time. Opportunities exist Friday through Sunday with various shifts. Volunteers age 16 and over are welcome.

·         Waterloo Leisure Services needs volunteers to coach a baseball or softball team this summer by helping kids learn the basic fundamentals through team practices and league play with a heavy emphasis placed on sportsmanship. Days and times to be determined. Tryouts are on April 15. Practices typically begin in May. Volunteers should have played baseball or softball & enjoy working with kids. Volunteers age 16 and over are welcome.

·         The YMCA of Black Hawk County will be having its annual Healthy Kids Day Health Fair on April 16th. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers will assist by running the many booths planned for the health fair. Volunteers age 16 and over are welcome.

·         Volunteers are needed to assist with Earth Day activities throughout the Grout Museum District on Friday April 22nd from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Volunteers age 18 and over are welcome.
