Onsite Volunteer Opportunities for Business Partners in Volunteerisn

The Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley serves as the local leadership and resource organization for volunteering. Through the Partners in Volunteerism program the VCCV provides:
  • Up-to-date information on available opportunities in the community weekly to share with the workplace.
  • Opportunity for the VCCV to attend a staff meetings and share information regarding volunteerism.
  • Assistance with arrangements for a volunteer day. (see below)
  • A place for your business logo on our website.
In order to participate, your business must provide:
  • A main contact for your business.
  • An easily accessible location for your employees to view available opportunities.

Potential employee volunteer opportunities:
  • Volunteers will repackage necessary health care items including liquid bath soaps, shampoo, and laundry detergent for area shelters. Supplies will assist individuals who are in need of basic healthcare items.

  • Volunteers will prepare activities for age kindergarten through second grade to go along with youth books, Julius, Baby of the World and Amazing Grace. Literacy kits give youth the opportunity to match keywords from book with spelling cards to develop vocabulary, story telling, and inference skills.

  • Volunteers will prepare tie fleece blankets for youth at area hospitals as well as animals at the Cedar Bend Humane Society. Fleece blankets provide warmth for individuals who might be suffering from illness as well as animals new to the shelter.

  • Volunteers will collect and package items for first grade classrooms in the Waterloo Community Schools including Ziplock baggies, kleenex, first-grade reading level books, craft items for Valentine's Day and/or Mother's Day projects (fabric markers, wiggly eyes, beads, popsicle sticks, glue, tissue, felt, etc), 24-pack crayons, and pencils. Ready kits provide a much needed middle of the year refill of classroom supplies.
