Weekly Volunteer Opportunity Updates

  • Waterloo Leisure Services needs volunteers to coach a baseball or softball team this summer and help kids learn the basic fundamentals through team practices and league play with a heavy emphasis placed on sportsmanship. Days and times to be determined. Tryouts are on April 15 and practice begins in May. Volunteers should have played baseball or softball & enjoy working with kids. Volunteers age 16 and over are welcome.
  • The YMCA of Black Hawk County will be having its annual Healthy Kids Day Health Fair on April 16th. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers will assist by running the many booths planned for the health fair. Volunteers age 16 and over are welcome.
  • Volunteers are needed to assist with Earth Day activities throughout the Grout Museum District on April 22nd from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Volunteers age 18 and over are welcome.
  • On April 11 from 5-7 p.m. and April 12 from 3-5 p.m., the Hawkeye Chapter of the American Red Cross is asking volunteers to help pack nonperishable food items into drawstring bags as part of an annual preparedness event. Kits may be used in the Cedar Valley and throughout the country. Volunteers age 16 and over are welcome.
